Orange Sky’s Whakatāne service supports friends and whānau in the community who are experiencing homelessness or hardship by offering access to clean laundry and genuine, non-judgmental kōrero – all from our custom-built mobile laundry van.
This service was made possible through our partnership with Waiariki Whānau Mentoring – a local organisation deeply embedded in the community, dedicated to supporting whānau through mentoring, advocacy, and wraparound support.
Together, we’re creating a welcoming, community-led space where people can access clean clothes, connect with friendly tūao (volunteers), and feel a sense of belonging.
As always, Orange Sky Aotearoa operates alongside local community services, ensuring our support in Whakatāne is grounded in local knowledge and shaped by those who know and serve the area best. By working together, we can help reduce hardship and provide practical support that makes a real difference.
Our laundry shifts are free and open to anyone who needs them – no bookings, no referrals, no judgement, just clean clothes and friendly faces.
We are committed to supporting friends and whānau in Whakatāne, and communities across Aotearoa, in a way that upholds mana, strengthens connection, and reflects the values of aroha and manaakitanga.
